Physicians Formula Holdings, Inc. posted financial results for the three and six months ended June 30, 2009.

For the second quarter, net sales fell 8% to $21.1 million. The company noted that while net sales were down slightly in 2009 versus the prior year period, this was the result of a larger decline in gross sales which was almost entirely offset by a lower returns provision versus the second quarter of 2008.

Net sales for the first six months of 2009 fell 23% to $41.2 million.
